“A Day to Make it Happen” – April 12, 2014
Employees of American Chamber of Commerce in Hungary’s member companies provided support with 1,15 million HUF and voluntary work in the recovery of a playground and school building in Dunabogdány, damaged by huge flood.
AmCham Foundation organized voluntary day for the tenth times this year. It’s not rare, that people who are ready to assist are coming with family. AmCham Foundation’s main goals are widely supported from the beginning. The most active volunteers are the American and international companies’ employees. Tata Consultancy’s team has joined to the initiation first this year and had been participating last years with cheerfulness and resolve. Lexmark overtops too with 20 volunteers and providing paint required to the reconstruction. Thank goes for Citibank, GE, SynergoCom and AmCham staff too, who helped with two hands and unrelenting exaltation.
Nearly 70 dedicated and zealous volunteers registered from AmCham member companies. Hereafter, local people joined to the voluntary work, so more than a hundred volunteers assisted to the recovery around the school building.
Programs were provided for children too, they could play in Easter handicrafts playhouse and spend their free time with sport activities while they were waiting for their renewed playground. After a great lunch, the work kept going. Painting and recovery of older toys as a the part of targeted activity.
Thanksgiving Charity Drive 2014 – Equal chance from the start!
The AmCham Foundation supports equal opportunity programs for physically or mentally challenged children, with its 2014 Jubilee Charity Drive.
In June 2014, the AmCham Foundation announced tender and invited applications from organizations who support mentally under privileged children in Hungary, with programs aiming to provide equal opportunity for them.
AmCham Foundation published a nation-wide tender titled ”MI LESZEK, HA 25 LESZEK” – Equal Chance From the Start! for organizations dedicated to helping disadvantaged children. Entries were evaluated and ranked by a jury composed of teachers, sociologists and foundation volunteers. The five winning organizations for the total prize of 8 million HUF were chosen by the Foundation’s Advisory Board based on the jury’s ranking. We kindly invite you to join us in supporting these organizations – you can support us till December 31!
The Foundation has selected five organizations as beneficiaries of the 2014 Jubilee Charity Drive. All the selected organizations do an exceptional work with proven track-record and submitted best quality tender applications, which demonstrate long-term thinking and strategic planning by their management. All the beneficiary organizations work with limited financial resources.

Based on the recommendation of an expert team (teachers, social workers and volunteers), the AmCham Foundation Board of Trustees selected the following five organizations to support:

- Köz-pont Ifjúsági Egyesület – Debrecen: “You hold the key to your future”
- Bókay Children’s Hospital Foundation – Budapest: Raising Health Consciousness in Parents
- Foundation for Autistic Children – Nagykanizsa: LEGO Therapy for Future’s Engineers
- Tangible Foundation – Budapest : Tangible Exhibitions – Social Integration With Art Therapy
Extraordinary “Children’s Day” at Millipop Mosolygyár (October 10, 2014)
AmCham Foundation hosted more than 160 socially disadvantaged, blind or mentally challenged children on 10 October 2014 at an extraordinary “Children’s Day” in Millenáris Park. Besides animated programs for the children, the Foundation ceremoniously signed donation contracts with the five selected charity organizations.
In her speech at the prize giving ceremony, Zsuzsa Rajki, representative of the AmCham Foundation told the audience that: “We have been working for 25 years to help disadvantaged children and the organizations that support them. I am very happy to announce that this year we have the opportunity to help not one, but five such organizations.”
